Henry Roseman Lang
Henry Roseman Lang (born September 22, 1853 in Wartau , † July 25, 1934 in New Haven , Connecticut ) was an American Romanist , Hispanist and Lusitanist of Swiss origin.
life and work
Lang received his doctorate in Strasbourg in 1890 with the work (ed.) Cancioneiro d'el Rei Dom Denis [Cancioneiro d'el Rei Dom Diniz] (published out of T. The song book of King Denis of Portugal , Halle a. S. 1894, Hildesheim 1972 ). From 1892 he made a career at Yale University , first as an instructor and assistant professor, from 1896 as a professor of Romance Philology and from 1906 to 1922 as Benjamin F. Barge Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures. In 1915, Lang was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
