Henry Worm (born March 23, 1963 in Steinach ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since 2004 he is member of the Thuringian state parliament and, since November 2019 Vice-President of the Thuringian State Parliament.

Life

Worm attended the 10-class polytechnic high school until 1979 . Then he did an apprenticeship as a ceramist and worked as a skilled worker for ceramics . 1982 to 1983 he did basic military service in the National People's Army of the GDR . He then completed an engineering degree , which he completed in 1986 as a graduate engineer (FH) for sintering technology . He then worked as an engineer in the porcelain and ceramics industry until 1990. From 1991 to 1994 Worm was employed in the toy wholesale business, initially in sales and later as a buyer and sales manager. Then he was district manager of a cosmetics company in the Saxony / Thuringia sales area for ten years until he was elected to the state parliament.

Henry Worm is married and has two children.

Party memberships and offices

Worm was a member of the SED from 1982 to 1989 . In 1999 he joined the CDU. From 2000 to 2014 he was chairman of the CDU local association Scheibe-Alsbach and Steinheid . From 2003 to 2005 he was deputy district chairman of the CDU district association Sonneberg , then from 2005 to 2010 he was its district chairman. Since 2014 he has been chairman of the CDU regional association for the Neuhaus am Rennweg region .

Mandates

Henry Worm has been a local councilor or district councilor in Scheibe-Alsbach since 1999; since June 2004 he has represented constituency 20 ( Hildburghausen II / Sonneberg II ) in the Thuringian state parliament with a direct mandate as a CDU member. Since 2009 he has been a member of the district council of the Sonneberg district . He has also been city councilor and deputy mayor of the city of Neuhaus am Rennweg since 2014.
