Heqaib (I.) was head of the priesthood and mayor of Elephantine in the 12th dynasty . He was the son of Sarenput I and is shown in his grave as the son and successor in office. From the sanctuary of the local saint Heqaib come a shrine , a statue and a sacrificial tablet that Heqaib I donated there. His grave has not yet been identified with certainty. Heqaib I probably did not hold office for long. He may have been in office during the last years of the reign of Sesostris I and / or Amenemhet II .
