Herbert Conrad

Herbert Conrad (born March 15, 1923 in Thedinghausen ; † October 11, 1985 in Bremen ) was a German entrepreneur and owner of the Lexzau group of companies , Scharbau in Bremen.

Conrad completed an apprenticeship at the shipping company Lexzau, Scharbau & Co. , which was still based in Hamburg at the time . He was a flight instructor during World War II . 1945 returned to his company. Here he played a key role in rebuilding the logistics company. In 1946 the first office in Bremen was opened at the Bremer Domshof . In 1959 Conrad became a partner in the company and then in 1970 the sole owner. In 1963 he founded a company that shifts road freight transport to rail. The seaport specialist Anker Transport-Gesellschaft emerged from this. In 1969 the company moved into the new administration building in the Bremen district of Häfen on Kap-Horn-Straße. He developed the company into a global freight forwarding empire.

His son Jörg Conrad has been the managing director of the company since 1992 with around 1,600 employees (2013) and 42 companies of his own worldwide under the name Leschaco .
