Herbert Couper Wilson
Herbert Couper Wilson (born October 24, 1858 in Lewiston , Minnesota , † March 9, 1940 in Northfield , Minnesota) was an American astronomer .
Wilson graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. In the fall of 1880 he began to work at the Cincinnati Observatory , under Professor Ormond Stone . In 1887, Wilson was hired at Carleton College to teach math , physics, and astronomy . He used the Goodsell Observatory there . During his observations he discovered three IC objects .
On December 20, 1882, Wilson married Mary B. Nichols. They had three daughters and one son.
