Herbert Jösch

Herbert "Herb" Jösch (born April 16, 1962 in Koblenz ) is a German musician and band leader.

Herb is the drummer and band leader of the band heavytones , who accompanied the TV total from Stefan Raab until it was closed.

Career

Jösch worked with Stefan Raab even before the heavytones . In 2000 he was a drummer at the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden when Raab competed with his title “Wadde hadde dudde da”. In 2001 Raab asked him to put together a show band for the new concept of TV total, from which the heavytones emerged.

Herb Jösch began playing the drums in 1974 and was soon performing with local blues, rock and jazz bands. In 1979 he became the drummer in the then newly founded Landesjugendbigband Rheinland-Pfalz, with which, in addition to appearing in Germany and France, he also toured several African countries as a drummer and tour manager. After graduating from high school, in 1983 he did his military service with the Bundeswehr Music Corps in Bonn and Koblenz.

In 1984, in addition to his work as a drummer in various bands, he began training as a retail salesman in the field of drums and percussion and from 1986 worked as a product manager for Sabian cymbals and sonor drums. In 1988 he founded the band " Fred Kellner and the famous Soulsisters " with friends , where he drummed from 1987 to 2002. From 1988 he was a partner in the "Drums Only" drum shops, but left them in 2000 to devote himself only to music.

In 1998 he played a tour as a drummer with Guildo Horn and in 1999 he was named by Stefan Raab as a member of the German contribution “ Wadde hadde dudde da? “Signed for the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm 2000 . Shortly afterwards, the ProSieben late night show “TV total” switched to a daily format, and Raab commissioned Herb to put together a band for the show, from which the “heavy tones” emerged. Since then Herb has been the drummer and organizational director of this band.

Herb Jösch plays Yamaha drums and Anatolian cymbals.
