Herbert Mederer

Herbert Werner Mederer (born March 17, 1946 in Fürth ) is a German confectionery manufacturer. He is the managing partner of Trolli GmbH in Fürth.

Career

Mederer was born as the son of Willi Mederer. After the end of the Second World War, his father set up a noodle factory in Fürth , which was later expanded to include the production of fruit gums. After completing secondary school, he joined his father's company at the age of 17. He also completed an apprenticeship as a confectionery maker in Solingen . Stays abroad took him to France and Austria, among others . Even before his father's death in 1984, he took over the management of the company as managing partner. With the Trolli brand , he successfully expanded the business to the United States. In 1986 he built a new production facility in Creston, Iowa, and Trolli became the market leader in the United States. The company's international expansion continued with the construction of further plants in Spain (1994), Indonesia (1997), the Czech Republic and China (2001).

Herbert Mederer is one of the richest Germans. According to the list of the German Manager Magazine , his assets are around 250 million euros (as of 2013), which puts him in 480th place.
