Herbert Ruland

Herbert Ruland (* 1952 in Düren ) is a German author and historian .

Ruland studied business administration , political science , sociology and economics at RWTH Aachen University . There doctorate he became Dr. phil. From 1982 until his retirement he headed the teaching and research department “Regional Workers', Social and Contemporary History” at the Adult Education Center of the Eastern Cantons , an educational institution of the Christian labor movement in Belgium . From 2007 to 2017 he was research lecturer at the Autonomous University in the German-speaking Community and scientific director of GrenzGeschichteDG. Everyday regional history has been the focus of research since the beginning. He has published many texts and books, as well as documentaries.

Ruland represents the German-speaking community in numerous national and international committees for remembrance work, e.g. B. in the Belgian Interfederal Committee to commemorate the Great War .
