The Konejung Foundation: Culture is a non-profit cultural foundation and was founded in 2004 by the Krefeld entrepreneur Horst Konejung († 2006) with foundation capital of 850,000 EUR.
Foundation, endowment
The foundation supports cultural projects within the framework of European unification. Especially the promotion of historical research and the artistic processing of cultural contrasts and similarities over the centuries. The focus here is on Roman times, the Middle Ages and the wars of the 20th century.
The foundation supports events from theater, literature and film as well as exhibitions that are dedicated to the topics of historical research and artistic processing. A particular aim is to support and promote cultural events across borders. The foundation has been awarding the Horst Konejung Prize since 2005 .
Chairman of the advisory board is the journalist David Eisermann , other advisory boards are Hans-Gerd Dick (cultural advisor for the city of Zülpich), Helga Konejung and Thorsten Engels (deputy managing director of the Siegerland-Wittgenstein tourist association). The board members are the cabaret artist Achim Konejung and the event manager Bettina Lauterborn.
Horst Konejung Prize
The Horst Konejung Prize is endowed with 5000 euros and is awarded annually to people and institutions who have distinguished themselves in the sense of the foundation's goals for cultural and historical projects in the Rhineland and the Euregio Meuse-Rhine border region .

Publications
The foundation has published numerous works on historical topics in the Rhineland and provides financial support for specialist conferences and university research. In addition, the foundation is involved in the planning and implementation of exhibitions, for example in 2008 in the Simonskall Experiment Kalltalgemeinschaft - the Cologne Progressives in Simonskall "1919 - 1920 .
