Herbert Schwiete

Herbert Schwiete (born January 20, 1918 in Warendorf ; † April 4, 1994 in Paderborn ) was a German teacher and politician who lived and worked in Paderborn.

Schwiete was rector of the Paderborn Bonifatius secondary school from 1959 to 1980 and became a member of the CDU . From 1968 to 1988 he was mayor of the city of Paderborn. During his term of office, Paderborn became a major city through the incorporation of surrounding communities in 1969 and 1975. In 1977 he became an honorary member of the Paderborn Citizens' Rifle Club. In 1990 he was given honorary citizenship of the city of Paderborn for his services as mayor . In addition, after his death, part of the outer ring around the inner city area of ​​Paderborn was renamed Herbert-Schwiete-Ring .
