Wilhelm Lüke

Wilhelm "Willi" Lüke (born November 22, 1934 in Paderborn ) is a German politician and former member of the CDU state parliament , as well as the former mayor of the city of Paderborn.

Life and work

After attending elementary school and the Reismann grammar school, he passed the Abitur examination in 1956 . Lüke then studied at the Pedagogical University in Paderborn. From 1958 he was active in the school service. In 1963 he passed the examination for teaching at special schools . From 1968 to 1971 he built up the Don Bosco special school in Salzkotten . From 1971 to 1985 he was the rector of the Pauline von Mallinckrodt School in Paderborn .

Lüke has been a member of the CDU since 1965. He was active in numerous party committees, so u. a. City Association Chairman of the City of Paderborn and Deputy District chairman of the Paderborn district. From 1985 to 1992 he was the district representative of the Malteser Aid Service .

He is married with three children and is Catholic.

From May 30, 1985 to June 1, 2000, Lüke was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was elected directly in constituency 118 Paderborn II.

From 1970 to 1974 he was a member of the district council of the Paderborn district . He was a member of the Paderborn City Council from 1975 to 1999.

Lüke took part in the 9th Federal Assembly in 1999, at which Johannes Rau was elected Federal President.

From 1975 to 1988 he was deputy. Mayor of the city of Paderborn and from 1988 to 1999 mayor .

Others

On October 20, 1997, Lüke was made an honorary citizen of the city of Przemyśl , on June 23, 1999, an honorary citizen of the University of Paderborn and on September 30, 1999, an honorary citizen of the city of Paderborn.

Pope Benedict XVI awarded Lüke the New Year's Eve . The papal Order of Merit was presented to him on March 28, 2007 by Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker .
