Herbert Stadelmaier

Herbert Stadelmaier (born December 4, 1916 in Hamburg ; † January 29, 2009 ) was a German trade unionist for the food-pleasure-restaurants union .

Life

After completing secondary school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship in a machine factory and mill construction company. He then worked in the same company. Labor service, military service and five years of military service followed. Returned to Hamburg in October 1945, he immediately joined the union and the SPD and was active in union youth work until 1948. On May 1, 1946 he was elected chief cashier of the Hamburg local administration of the Association of Food and Beverage Workers. The founding association day of the NGG British Zone and the merger association day in Munich in 1949 elected him to the same position on the executive board. At the Essen trade union convention in 1962, the delegates elected him second chairman. At the trade union days in 1966 (Bremen), 1970 (Berlin) and 1974 (Braunschweig) he was elected first chairman of the NGG trade union. For many years, Stadelmaier was vice-president of the IUF and, since 1975, president of the European trade union committee for food, beverages and restaurants.
