Herbert W. Marsh

Herbert W. Marsh (full name Herbert Warren Marsh ; born October 29, 1946 in Gouverneur, NY) is an educational psychologist who published research on self-image, motivation and assessment of the effectiveness of teaching by university students.

Live and act

Marsh received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University and received his PhD from the University of California , Los Angeles in 1974 . He was Head of Evaluation Research Services at the University of Southern California and moved to Australia in 1980 to take on a faculty at the University of Sydney . He joined the University of Western Sydney where he founded the Research Center for Self-Concept Improvement and Learning Enhancement (SELF). In 2006, Marsh became a professor at Oxford University .
