Kirsty Anele Smith (born January 6, 1994 in Scotland ) is a Scottish national football player . The defender has been under contract with the English club Manchester United WFC since 2018 . Before that she played for Hibernian Edinburgh for several years . In 2014 she played for the Scottish national team for the first time .

Career

societies

Smith began playing football at Musselburgh Windsor, in 2007 she moved to Hibernian Edinburgh , where she played in the first team of the Hibs from 2011 , with which she won the Cup twice and the League Cup three times. She could n't win a championship with the Hibs . It was only enough for four runners-up championships. In 2015, they benefited from the fact that the Scottish runner-up was also admitted to the 2016/17 UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time and qualified directly for the round of 32. Here she was used in both games against the German champions FC Bayern Munich , but lost both games (0: 6 and 1: 4). As Scottish champions Glasgow City FC were also eliminated in the round of 32, the Scottish runner-up in the 2017/18 UEFA Women's Champions League had to qualify. The "Hibs" could not prevail as runner-up in 2016 at a tournament in Romania against the hosts of the CFF Olimpia Cluj and were eliminated as the second-worst group runner-up. Murray was used in the three games and did not miss a minute. For the 2018/19 season she moved to Manchester United WFC . The club had received a license for the FA Women's Championship , the second highest division in English women's football, and was able to finish the season as champions.

National team

Smith took part with the U-17 team in the 2nd qualifying round for the 2011 U-17 European Women's Football Championship , where it was used in the three games. After a 1: 4 defeat against France and a 1: 1 against Wales they had no chance of reaching the finals even before the last game against Switzerland. But with a 3-0 win against the Swiss, second place was achieved.

At the end of March / beginning of April 2012 played for the Scottish U-19 team in qualifying for the 2012 U-19 European Women's Football Championship . Although the first game against Russia was won 1-0, after defeats against Italy and Spain, the final round was missed. In October they made a new attempt at a tournament in Turkey . In the first game Belarus was defeated 8-0, where they scored their first international goal. With a 2-0 win they consolidated the second place, so that the subsequent 0-1 defeat against Norway could be coped with. In the second qualifying round in April 2013 they had home rights, but could not use this in the first game against Denmark and lost 1-0. Since the Danes also won the other two games, the victories against Austria and Ukraine were of no use to the Scottish women, because they were only second-best group runner-up and only the best group runner-up was qualified for the final round alongside the group winners. This ended her time in the U-teams.

She made her first appearance in the senior national team on October 30, 2014 in the 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands in the playoff semi-final second leg of the qualifying for the 2015 World Cup , where she came on eleven minutes before the end of the game. The Scottish women had already lost their home game 2-1 and thus missed the World Cup finals. In February 2015 she was in her second international match in a 4-0 win against Northern Ireland for the first time in the starting line-up, but was substituted after 77 minutes. At the Cyprus Cup in 2015 , she played three of the four games and played for the first time over 90 minutes in the 0-2 defeat in the first game against Canada . The Scottish women finished the tournament in seventh place.

In qualifying for the 2017 European Championship , she was used in six games. The Scottish women were able to qualify for the first time for the European Championship finals, for which they were also nominated . But it was only used in the second group game against Portugal , which was lost 2-1. Although the last group game won a European Championship finals and against Spain for the first time , the 1-0 was not enough to reach the knockout round, as the Spaniards, like the Scottish women and Portuguese, beat group winners England had lost, had won against Portugal 2-0.

In the subsequent qualification for the 2019 World Cup , it was used in the first game, which was won 2-1 against Belarus , but then only once again in June 2018 when the Belarusians were again 2-1. After qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time, it was used in five test matches and nominated for the 2019 World Cup on May 15. At the World Cup she was used in the three group games. In the last group game against Argentina , in which she was substituted in the 86th minute, the Scottish women led 3-0 after 69 minutes, but then had to accept three goals, including the decisive goal to 3: 3 in the fourth minute of stoppage time , and were eliminated.
