Herbert Walser

Herbert Walser-Breuß (born October 5, 1967 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn , French horn , electronics ) in the field of classical music and modern jazz .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Walser completed a teaching degree in mathematics and music education from 1986 to 1989, he also studied at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory with Lothar Hilbrand until 1991 and later at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Karl Steininger. Since 1995 he has been a lecturer at the State Conservatory, a trumpet teacher at the jazz seminar at the Dornbirn Music School and an instrumental music teacher at the Schillerstraße grammar school in Feldkirch. Since 1991 he has worked regularly with Nikolaus Harnoncourt's Concentus Musicus , Il Giardino Armonico Milano , The Bach Ensemble (New York), Il Conterto Viennese and the TrompetenConsortInnsbruck . In the field of jazz he played a. a. with the Vorarlberg Jazz Orchestra, the KDR Society and in a duo with the pianist Peter Madsen ( Die Neun Musen , 2006). In the Heartbeat project he worked with the saxophonist Andreas Krennerich, the bassist Florian King and the percussionist Helge Andreas Norbakken .

Walser lives with his family in Feldkirch .

Prizes and awards

In 2007 Walser was named Ö1 Artist of the Year with a program with viol consort , soprano and trumpet instruments. In the same year he received the gift of honor for art from the state of Vorarlberg .
