Helge Andreas Norbakken (2017)

Helge Andreas Norbakken (* 1965 in Tromsø ) is a Norwegian drummer .

Act

Norbakken played with Mari Boine , Kari Bremnes , Maria João , but also with Jon Balke , Daniel Herskedal , Karl Seglem and Solveig Slettahjell . His percussion set is quite unusual (he plays a very low-pitched rototom with the pedal as a bass drum while he hits the actual bass drum with his hands) and partly contains self-made or modified percussion instruments (cymbals, metal sheets) and everyday objects (car steel rims on cymbal stands) . He also uses African drums. He prefers to play this set with hotrods (broom-like sticks) and bundles of sticks and occasionally with his bare hands. His style is very reserved, and explosive moments rarely occur (and with drum solos).

In the Heartbeat project he worked with trumpeter Herbert Walser , saxophonist Andreas Krennerich and bassist Florian King. In 2017 he performed with the singer Ragnheiður Gröndal, the guitarist Hilmar Jensson and the NDR big band under the direction of Geir Lysne .
