Herbert Weisrock

Herbert Weisrock (* 11. December 1953 in Parchim ) is a German jazz saxophonist , jazz - photographer and graphic designer .

Live and act

Herbert Weisrock took jazz photos (black and white) in the 1980s mainly during concerts at the former Jazz Club Schwerin or in Peitz. Weisrock played for years in the Schwerin jazz-rock formation eukalyptus . From 1977 the band had regular appearances in student clubs throughout the GDR, including with Tony Lakatos as a guest. The band's mentor was the pianist Reinhard Walter from Berlin in the early 1980s . Ulli Blobel acted as the band's tour manager before he moved to West Germany.

In 1997 Herbert Weisrock and the guitarist Wolf-Dieter "Atze" Niemann (1956–2002) founded the label Dachboden Records to release recordings of their band eukalyptus (1972–2000). In 2004 Herbert Weisrock began to work with the media artist Thomas Sander (guitar and electronics). Both play mainly free improvised music and also experiment with video and sound installations. The duo has been called Permanent Representation since 2009 .

As a jazz and improvisation musician, Weisrock is largely self-taught . He performed with Theo Jörgensmann , Jan von Klewitz , Hagen Stüdemann and Ernst Ulrich Deuker, among others .

Herbert Weisrock learned the trade of a commercial in the GDR and works in Berlin for the association Jazzwerkstatt Berlin-Brandenburg.
