Iva Hercíková

Iva Hercíková (born November 2, 1935 in Pardubice , † January 27, 2007 in Prague ) was a Czech writer and dramaturge .

Life

Iva Hercíková, née Vodňanská, attended grammar school in Liberec until 1954 and studied dramaturgy and theater studies at DAMU in Prague until 1958 . She was married to the writer Jiří Robert Pick (1925–1983).

In 1986 she emigrated with her second husband, first to Germany and later to the USA . After the velvet revolution in 1989, she lived in Prague for a few months, but she did not definitely return until 2000. In January 2007, she committed suicide.

Works

Hercíková is the author of several novels , short stories and several scripts . Her first book Pět holek na krku (Five women on the neck), which was also made into a film, became a bestseller.
