Hercule de Charnacé

Hercule Girard Baron de Charnacé (born September 3, 1588 in Champigné , † 1637 in Breda , United Netherlands ) was a French diplomat during the Thirty Years War . He was instrumental in the Treaty of Altmark (1629) and signed the Treaty of Bärwalde (1631) as a representative of France . In 1633 he was the French ambassador to the Netherlands. In 1631 he was sent to the Bavarian court of Elector Maximilian I as Richelieu's special envoy .

During the siege of Breda (1637), Hercule de Charnacé was killed in action.
