Heribert Barking

Heribert Barking (born July 25, 1912 in Gelsenkirchen ; † September 20, 1992 in Zug , Switzerland) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

Heribert Barking, son of the mine director Hans Barking, first studied law at the University of Bonn and then mining science at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld mining academy . In 1938 he achieved his diploma and graduated in 1942 with the Bergassessor exam. 1949 Barking at the Technical University of Aachen to Dr. Ing. PhD.

Heribert Barking began his professional career in civil service (1942–1944). Participation in the war and imprisonment followed. In 1945 he joined the Walsum / Thyssensche Gas- und Wasserwerke GmbH trade union as an industrial engineer . Here he played a key role in the development of the Walsum mine (today in the city of Duisburg ) planned by Wilhelm Roelen into a composite mine : from 1947 as operations director, from 1949 as mine director, from 1951 to 1953 as managing director and from 1953 as a technical member of the board Mining company Walsum AG. In 1969 he was a member of the board of Bergbau AG Niederrhein.

Barking's special entrepreneurial activities included u. a. the early construction and operation of a coal-fired power station belonging to the Walsum mine (today Steag ). The refinement of hard coal through electricity generation and other processes were among his ideas about the future use of this energy source.

Barking was married to Johanna geb. Roelen, a daughter of the mining company Wilhelm Roelen . The marriage has six children.

Political party

Heribert Barking had been a member of the CDU since 1950 . He was involved in the economic council of the CDU and in the economic association of the CDU of the Rhineland.

He was district chairman of the district economic association of the CDU of the Dinslaken district from January 1973.

MP

As a member of the CDU, he was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament from November 13, 1967 to July 25, 1970 and from March 13, 1973 to May 27, 1975.
