Heribert Zitzmann

Heribert Zitzmann (* 1945 ) is a former table tennis player of the GDR .

Zitzmann won the GDR championship in 1966 in Jena in men's doubles together with Wolfgang Stein . He repeated this success in Görlitz in 1967 . In 1969 he was second with Petra Stephan in mixed doubles.

Zitzmann was a participant in the European table tennis championship in 1966 and was ninth in the team competition. In 1976, the member of the Carl Zeiss Jena Association was awarded the DTTV badge in gold for his achievements .

At the time of the GDR he looked after numerous GDR athletes in the field of athletics, u. a. Astrid Kumbernuss and Marlies Göhr .

Zitzmann was the team doctor at FC Carl Zeiss Jena from 1990 to 2013 . In 2007 he was acquitted of the accusation of botching the death of Axel Jüptner in a trial. In 2008 Zitzmann saved Darlington Omodiagbe's life on the football field.
