Herma Studeny

Herma Studeny (born January 4, 1886 in Marschendorf ; † June 28, 1973 in Pullach ) was a German violinist , violin teacher and composer.

Life

Studeny was a student of concert master Richard Schrammel. She made her debut at the age of 17. During her studies at the Prague Conservatory , she was a student of Antonín Dvořák and Otakar Ševčík . She founded the Studeny Quartet (Herma Studeny, Lotte Harburger, Alf Beckmann, Karl List) in Munich and composed four suites for violin. She gave violin lessons and had violin students such as Gerhard Seitz (from 1922) and Herbert Hirschmann (from 1930) among her students. Michael Mann received violin lessons from her in Munich since he was 5 years old (1924). She was also the author of the violin booklet .

Studeny was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Music during the “ Third Reich ”. She was accused of doing this after the war and therefore had problems with public appearances. With the help of the adult education center , she was able to continue to work in public.
