Herman Ludin Jansen
Herman Ludin Jansen (born June 8, 1905 in Halden (Norway) , † July 17, 1986 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian theologian and religious historian .
Jansen received his doctorate in 1940 on the figure of Enoch . In 1952 he became professor of the New Testament . From 1953 to 1975 he was Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Oslo . He retired in 1975.
He mainly dealt with the religions of the Middle East , Gnosticism and the Nag Hammadi scriptures . He also published works on Meister Eckhart and translated parts of Plotinus' work into Norwegian.
