Herman Tjeenk Willink (born January 23, 1942 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch politician of the Partij van de Arbeid .

Life

Tjeenk Willink studied law at the University of Leiden . Since 1987 Tjeenk Willink has been a senator in the First Chamber of the States General. From June 11, 1991 to March 11, 1997, Tjeenk Willink was the successor to Piet Steenkamp as President of the First Chamber of the States General . From July 1, 1997 to February 1, 2012, Tjeenk Willink was Vice President of the Dutch Raad van State (Council of State), succeeding Willem Scholten . He was succeeded in the office of Vice President Piet Hein Donner . On December 21, 2012 he was appointed Minister of State of the Netherlands . Tjeenk Willink lives in The Hague .
