Herman Toll (born March 15, 1907 in Kiev , Russian Empire , †  July 26, 1967 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1967 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Herman Toll was born on March 19, 1907 in Kiev, today's capital of Ukraine . He emigrated to America with his family around 1910. After studying law at the Law School of Temple University in Philadelphia and his admission to the bar in 1930, he began to work in this profession in Philadelphia. He joined the Democratic Party . He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Prison Society and Philadelphia Housing Association . These two groups dealt with the location of the inmates of the state prisons and the development plans of the city of Philadelphia. He also became a board member of the Crusader Savings & Loan Association . Between 1951 and 1959 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .
