The Hermann-Frieb Secondary School is a six junior high school at the Hohenzollernstraße in Munich district of Schwabing-West .
history
The school building was built in 1906 according to designs by the Munich city planning officer Robert Rehlen in German Renaissance forms as a four-storey three-wing group building with curved gables, rich structure and decoration. It is listed as an architectural monument in the Bavarian Monument List and is a place on the Schwabing-West cultural history trail .
In the then Hohenzollern School, the city school councilor Georg Kerschensteiner founded two experimental classes based on the concept of the work school in 1910 . The students in these classes were brought up on the principle of self-activity ; Practical activities played an important role, for example in handicrafts .
Today's secondary school was founded in 1961 and named after the resistance fighter Hermann Frieb in February 1964 .

From the 7th grade onwards, students are offered the following training focuses (elective subject groups):

particularities
The school is committed to Kerschensteiner's educational ideas. In the field of musical education, a wind class with instrumental lessons is offered in grades five and six .
The students can get involved in the school orchestra , choir , percussion group , swing band and theater.
Educational afternoon care is offered, which includes supervision by teachers, supervision of the lunch table and homework supervision. The students should learn to support one another and to solve problems together.
