Hermann-Josef Schmalor (* 1951 in Hagen , Arnsberg district ) is a German librarian .

Life

Hermann-Josef Schmalor studied Catholic theology in Paderborn and Würzburg from 1969 to 1974 . From November 1974 to 2016 he worked at the Archbishop's Academic Library Paderborn , which he was director from 2009 to 2016. Before that he was Deputy Director from 1978 to 2009. He completed his training for the higher service at academic libraries ( legal clerkship ) from 1975 to 1977. As a board member (1983–2003) and director (2003–2013) he worked for the Association for the History and Antiquity of Westphalia, Dept. Paderborn . As chairman (1987–1995) and board member (1995–2011) he worked in the Working Group of Catholic Theological Libraries (AKThB). Since 1997 he has been a board member of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Theological Faculty Paderborn eV From 1998 to 2010 he was a board member of the Bibliothèques europèennes de théologie (BETH) library association . After completing his doctorate in 2003 at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn as Dr. theol. With the work The Westphalian Monastery Libraries up to Secularization , he has been a member of the Commission for Contemporary History in the Archdiocese of Paderborn since 2004 . Since 2004 he has been a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . Since 2013 he has been teaching as an honorary professor for diocese history at the Theological Faculty in Paderborn.
