Hermann Benjamin

Hermann Benjamin (born December 10, 1900 in Hamburg , † September 24, 1936 in London ) was a German music publisher .

Life

Hermann Benjamin's parents, Helene and John Benjamin, were co-owners of the Anton J. Benjamin Musikverlag in Hamburg and Leipzig . From 1930 to 1933 Hermann Benjamin was initially general authorized signatory , then a member of the board of this publishing house. In the mid-1930s he went into exile in Great Britain, where he founded the British Standard Music Company Ltd. together with the British music publisher B. Feldman & Co. founded.

Hermann Benjamin committed suicide in 1936; his wife and two children were after returning to the German Empire deported and KZ murdered. His mother was also killed in the Theresienstadt concentration camp in 1943 .
