Hermann Broermann (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann Broermann (born January 7, 1908 in Koblenz , † April 3, 1995 in Grevenbrück in the Olpe district ) was a German painter.

Life

Hermann Broermann is considered a master of the watercolor technique , whereby his pictures are strongly influenced by the style of the Impressionists . He wasn't an artist who just painted with color, he also used light. He belonged to the generation of painters who stepped away from “I only paint what I see” to portray their perception.

Hermann Broermann's painterly work bears witness to his deeply felt harmony with nature. The reflection of the beautiful in his pictures is the expression of this harmony and the constant will to break away from the material way of life and to create a bright place of refuge with the light watercolors, a home of beautiful pictures.

Hermann Broermann was already known as the “master of the four seasons” before he and his family moved from the bombed-out Koblenz to Grevenbrück , the home of his wife, after the Second World War . Here he continued his favorite subjects with his watercolor technique, landscapes, flowers and portraits. He painted most of his landscapes in every season of the year in the great outdoors, often at the Veischede .

Hermann Broermann became known as early as 1929 through exhibitions. His work met with a great response. A large number of public institutions acquired his works in the 1950s, such as the Foreign Office (for embassies), the Bonn Post Ministry, the Oberpostdirektion Koblenz and Freiburg, the Federal Archives in Koblenz and cities such as Trier, Bonn, Koblenz and Cologne, as well as the District home museum Attendorn and the district of Olpe. Many people in the Sauerland also have a picture of Hermann Broermann. Connoisseurs appreciate the striking brushstrokes and the strong dabs as well as the delicate colors of the watercolor.

Hermann Broermann was a co-founder of the South Sauerland Artists Association. In May 1998 his life's work was honored in a special exhibition in the Lennestadt City Museum . In 2008 he would have been 100 years old. On this occasion, a highly acclaimed art exhibition with selected works by Broermann and the sculptor Albert Michel took place in the museum under the motto “Light, Air, Earth, Stone”.
