car-napping ordered - stolen - delivered (often short: car-napping ) is a German crime comedy from 1980 .
action
When the designer Robert Mehring wanted to return to his workplace from a long vacation, he was completely surprised to find that the company he was previously working for no longer exists. The owner of the company, Benninger, secretly liquidated the company and set off abroad with Mehring's designs. Mehring tracks down Benninger on the Côte d'Azur and confronts him - albeit unsuccessfully.
Shortly afterwards, Mehring discovers that his Porsche 911 has been stolen, along with all of his papers. The local police chief makes it clear to him that Robert cannot expect any help from the police. By chance Robert Mehring discovers his car in traffic and confronts the thieves, the Italians Carlo and Mario, when they are about to sell the car to a dealer. However, he does not reveal the two car crackers. In gratitude, they offer to work with him. Mehring initially refuses, but then learns that his ex-boss Benninger owns a car dealership in Paris that has 40 Porsches. In order to get revenge on Benninger, Robert accepts Carlo and Mario's offer and steals all 40 cars with them and other cronies in a night-and-fog action and sells them.
He becomes the head of the gang, which soon also includes the printer Herrmann Aichinger, who was also defrauded by Benninger (and who is now responsible for false identity documents), and he steals luxury cars to order. The "business" is going very well until Robert is blackmailed and falls in love with the lawyer Claudia Klessing. He now wants to get out, but just after the last coup in Salzburg , Robert Mehring is caught by the police. Thanks to Claudia and Herrmann's help, however, he manages to escape from the remand prison.
reception
"Charming gentlemanly crook."
“A rather undemanding, but elaborate crook comedy, which differs from the majority of local comedy products due to its mostly funny and pleasing design. "
background
- According to the rental company, 116 luxury cars were used in the film. The many sports cars and luxury limousines that were staged helped the film to achieve a certain cult status among car fans in the 1980s, in which it was seen relatively often on German television.
- In the film, Mario steals a sports car with gullwing doors , although Robert Mehring advised against it because it is a one-off; he (Robert) designed it. The car is the CW 311, which was actually built as a one-off in 1978 . One of the two developers of the CW 311 is called Rainer Buchmann : As an allusion to this, the car in the film belongs, as a check by border officials shows, to a Dr. Buchbinder - and Robert Mehring pretends to be a bookbinder during the inspection.
- The actor Bernd Stephan , himself a well-known voice actor , was dubbed in the German version by Norbert Langer , as he was on tour with the Munich laughing and shooting society .
- The film was shown in French-speaking countries under the title Le Cerveau du super-gang (Eng. The brain of the super gang ).
