Sam Spence
Samuel Lloyd Spence (born March 29, 1927 in San Francisco , California , † February 6, 2016 in Lewisville , Texas ) was an American film composer who made his way to the United States primarily through his music for films about the National Football League , in Germany on the other hand, among other things, by his film music for the Francis-Durbridge - street sweeper How a lightning was known.
Life
As a former music teacher at the University of Southern California , Spence lived and worked in Munich . Spence was commissioned in 1966 with the music for the documentary series about the American National Football League. In Germany, Spence wrote the music for several television films, partly in collaboration with Hani Chamseddine. The music was best known for the Francis Durbridge three-part play Wie ein Blitz . After Spence retired in 1990, he returned to Munich. He achieved a late surprise success with the CD sampler The Power and the Glory: The Original Music & Voices of NFL Films .
