Hermann Ernst Endemann

Ernst Endemann (born August 12, 1796 in Hersfeld , † January 17, 1846 in Marburg ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

Hermann Ernst Endemann was born the son of a high school principal. He attended high school and together with his brother Konrad became a volunteer hunter in the wars of liberation . After the war ended in 1814, he studied at the Philipps University in Marburg , where he became a member of the Corps Hassia Marburg . In 1818 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . At the Philipps University he taught from 1819 as a private lecturer , from 1822 as associate professor and from 1824 as full professor . His subjects were Pandect Science , Roman Law ,Private law , feudal law and legal history . He was Vice Rector in 1832 and 1840 and Dean of the Faculty of Law in 1840 and 1843 . In 1833, 1836 and 1938 he was a member of the Hessian Estates Assembly and its vice-president. On December 9, 1834, the city of Marburg appointed Endemann as an honorary citizen of Marburg because of his “service to the university and his participation in the state assembly in the welfare of the local city”.
