Hermann Fischer (theologian)

Hermann Fischer (born May 18, 1933 in Cuxhaven ; † June 11, 2012 in Hamburg ) was a Protestant theologian .

Life

Fischer studied Protestant theology and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin (formerly GDR ) and Göttingen from 1952 to 1957 . In 1960 he was in Göttingen with a study of Kierkegaard and Schleiermacher Dr. theol. doctorate, in 1964 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on Ernst Troeltsch and Friedrich Gogarten in the field of systematic theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . There he was appointed associate professor in 1969 and scientific councilor and professor in 1971. From 1968 to 1969 he was a substitute professor in Heidelberg. In 1974 he was named ord. Professor for Systematic Theologian at the Department of Protestant Theology at the University of Hamburg , where he taught until his retirement in 1998.
