Hermann Gruber (politician)

Hermann Gruber (born June 6, 1900 in Carinthia (Gaßlhof), † August 10, 1984 in Klagenfurt ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1959 to 1966 he was a member of the National Council .

After primary school in Sankt Martin am Krappfeld, Gruber attended the agricultural school in Wolfsberg and Klagenfurt and subsequently managed the Fasching estate as a farmer, where he was appointed economics councilor. From 1934 he became politically active as the leader of the Carinthian Farmers' Union, was President of the Chamber of Agriculture for Carinthia from 1935 to 1937 and was briefly imprisoned by the Gestapo after the National Socialists came to power .

After the end of the Second World War, Gruber was a member of the Carinthian Landtag from December 10, 1945 and again President of the Chamber of Agriculture for Carinthia. He also acted as chairman of the ÖVP Carinthia and switched to the National Council on June 9, 1959, to which he was a member until March 30, 1966. In addition, Gruber was Carinthia's delegate to the Association of European Agriculture (CEA).
