Hermann Herdtle
Hermann Herdtle (junior) (* 2. July 1848 in Stuttgart , † 7. September 1926 , probably in Vienna ) was a German in Austria active architect and craftsman .
The son of the Württemberg painter of the same name was initially trained as an artist by his father. From 1866 to 1870 he attended the Polytechnic in Stuttgart and from there followed his teacher Wilhelm Sophonias Bäumer to Vienna. From 1870 to 1873 he was employed in the construction of the Vienna Northwest Railway Station, from 1876 to 1913 he taught decorative architecture and applied arts as a professor at the Vienna School of Applied Arts. Stylistically, his work can be classified in the historicism typical of the time . Among other things, he designed templates for marquetry and majolica .
