A portrait in the abbot list of Langheim Abbey from the 18th century

Hermann II († October 5, 1306 in Ebrach ) was abbot of the Langheim monastery until 1290 , before he headed the Cistercian monastery in Ebrach from 1290 to 1306 .

Life

Hermann II was born in the 13th century. The place of birth of the future abbot is unknown, and the family is not mentioned in the sources. Possibly Hermann came from a family in the Upper Franconian area, as he soon entered the Langheim monastery near Lichtenfels . Here he was elected head of the monastery after a career in the monastery, but the exact time is unclear. It was not until 1290 that he was appointed to the mother monastery of Langheim, Ebrach monastery.

Abbot Winrich von Saar died here in April 1290 and a successor was urgently needed. On the feast of Ascension Day in 1290, Hermann was elected Abbot Hermann II. In the same year he bought some goods from Konrad Fuchs zu Hüttenheim in the Teutonic Order Village Hüttenheim in Bavaria . After these early acquisitions, Hermann made many more new acquisitions during his tenure. Hermann II died in Ebrach on October 5, 1306.

Herrmann II probably started his service on April 15, 1290 in Ebrach. He comes from the de Quercu family. His place of residence is Eicha bei Tambach, which belonged to the Langheimer Hof. The name Herrmann de Quercu appears in the anals of Langheim and Bamberg and Tambach! Around this time, the fiefs of Herrmann went to Langheim, initiated by Marshal von Gundeloch zu Burkunstadt (village chronicle Eicha in the Analen von Tambach).
