Hermann III. von Weimar-Orlamünde (* around 1230 , † 1283 ) was a count from the Weimar-Orlamünde branch of the Ascanians .

Life

Hermann III. was a son of Hermann II of Weimar-Orlamünde and Beatrix of Andechs-Meranien . With his Franconian possessions, Hermann III. together with his brother Otto III. through his mother the legacy of Otto VIII from Meran . The residence was the Plassenburg . After the death of his father in 1278 Otto III. Weimar and the Plassenburg alone, Hermann III. received the county of Orlamünde . He died of the plague in 1283.

His wife died after 1279. Their children were:

  • Elisabeth “the elder” († before March 24, 1333); ∞ I: Hartmann von Lobdeburg-Arnshaugk († February 20, 1289); ∞ II: Albrecht "the degenerate" († November 20, 1315)
  • Hermann V. 1287 to 1312
  • Henry III. († after March 26, 1354), his successor as Count of Orlamünde; ∞ Irmgard von Schwarzburg († July 13, 1354)
  • Elisabeth “the Younger” († March 17, 1319), nun in the Weissenfels Monastery
