Otto III. von Weimar-Orlamünde , according to a different way of counting Otto IV. (* 1244 ; † June 1285 ) was a count from the Weimar-Orlamünde family .

Otto III., Lord of Weimar and Rudolstadt and the rule of Plassenburg, was the son of Hermann II of Weimar-Orlamünde and Beatrix of Andechs-Meranien . With his Frankish possessions Otto III. the legacy of Otto II from Merano through his mother , initially together with his brother Hermann III. He was married to Agnes, a countess of Truhendingen . Other sources refer to her as Agnes von Leiningen , daughter of Count Friedrich II. Von Leiningen and sister of the Speyer bishop Heinrich von Leiningen , whereby it cannot be excluded that there were two wives with the same first name.

There is no doubt that Otto's wife survived him and, as a widow and countess Agnes von Orlamünde, became a Dominican in the Lambrecht monastery (Palatinate) in 1292 , whose guardians were the Leininger who lived here. The master of the order Munio von Zamora personally sent her a letter of congratulations on entering the monastery and gave his consent that the strict rules of the order would be somewhat relaxed for her. According to the Seelbuch there, she died on November 25th, although the year is not mentioned; it is said to have been around 1300.

Children of Otto III. were Otto V. († 1315), Herrmann († 1319) and Otto IV. the Younger († before September 1318) and Agnes . A spiritual career was destined for Otto IV, he was canon in Bamberg and most recently pastor of St. Sebald in Nuremberg.

Otto III. founded the Himmelkron monastery on December 28, 1279 . The Tumba of Otto III. is located in the collegiate church of the monastery.
