Hermann Joachim Eduard Schmidt (born November 25, 1830 in Hamburg ; † February 22, 1900 there ) was a Hamburg locksmith and member of the Reichstag .

Ed. Schmidt grew up in Hamburg and became a locksmith. He was committed to his trade and became head master of the locksmiths' guild and in 1873 the first chairman of the newly founded Hamburg Chamber of Commerce (1873-1875 and 1877-1881). The first secretary of the Chamber of Commerce was Justus Brinckmann (from 1873 to 1877), who left the Chamber of Commerce to found the Museum of Art and Industry in Hamburg .

Eduard Schmidt was elected as a candidate for the National Liberal Party in the Reichstag election in 1874 for the Hamburg 2 constituency. He was a member of the Reichstag until 1877.
