Hermann Kesser

Hermann Kesser (born August 4, 1880 in Munich , † April 5, 1952 in Basel ; actually Hermann Kaeser-Kesser ) was a German writer and journalist .

Live and act

After studying and doing his doctorate (1903) at the Conservatory in Zurich , he first worked as a journalist in Berlin , Rome and Wiesbaden and then worked as a freelance writer. He worked as a radio play author for Funk-Hour Berlin .

After 1933 Hermann Kesser emigrated to Switzerland and in 1939 to the USA. After the end of the war he settled in Basel.

As a politically committed “left thinker”, Kesser was one of the most famous writers in Germany at the height of his work during the Weimar Republic . His son Armin Kesser also became a writer, but was not inclined to Expressionism, but to New Objectivity .
