Hermann Kohlmann

Hermann Kohlmann (born April 18, 1907 in Veltheim , † November 11, 1982 in Dresden ) was a Swiss and German painter , sculptor and graphic artist . His work includes landscapes, portraits and figures.

Life

Kohlmann was a student at the Dresden Academy with Richard Müller and Max Feldbauer . In 1934 he received the Hugo Göpfert Prize , which was followed by a stay in Italy. In 1937 he became known to the general public thanks to an exhibition in the Emil Richter Art Salon in Dresden .

From the mid-1930s, Hermann Kohlmann worked as a freelancer. From 1970 to 1980 he also worked as a restorer for the Museum for the History of the City of Dresden .

In the works “An der Lori”, “Trümmerfrauen” or “Trümmerabbruch an der Münzgasse”, all of which are in the possession of the Dresden State Art Collections , Kohlmann captured the post-war period in Dresden.
