Hermann Märker

Hermann Märker (born April 20, 1935 in Zwickau ) is a German horn player and emeritus professor at the University of Music in Leipzig .

Life

Hermann Märker first received violin lessons in Schneeberg , later trumpet and horn lessons at the age of 14. He studied from 1953 to 1957 at the University of Music in Leipzig with Albin Frehse and Erich Penzel .

From September 1, 1957 to July 31, 1991, Märker was the third horn player in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra . From 1976 to 2001 he was a teacher at the University of Music in Leipzig, from 1986 full-time. In 1991 he was appointed professor. During his employment with the Gewandhausorchester he worked for a long time in the orchestra's Bach orchestra. As a soloist, Märker performed the concert piece for four horns by Robert Schumann , of which there is a recording on record.

Märker is a juror at international competitions such as the International Music Competition in Markneukirchen . His students include a. Ralf Götz, Jörg Brückner and Jochen Pleß.
