Hermann Poeverlein

Hermann Adam Ferdinand Poeverlein (born December 24, 1874 in Regensburg ; † January 31, 1957 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , also Pöverlein ) was a German lawyer and botanist . Its botanical author's abbreviation is “ Poeverl. ".

Life

Poeverlein completed the preparatory service for the higher judicial and administrative service from 1897 to 1900, where he took the examination for the higher judicial and administrative service between October 5 and December 19, 1900. From December 20, 1900 until the end of 1901 he was a trainee lawyer and secretary of the Upper Palatinate Chamber of Crafts in Regensburg.

After working as a certified legal intern in Regensburg in 1902, he came to Ludwigshafen in October of the same year as a district assessor. He stayed that way until he was drafted into the First World War as a soldier in 1914 .

In November 1919 Poeverlein became a councilor in the government of the Palatinate (Chamber of the Interior) and in April 1920 rose to the top government council. In the early summer of 1923, however, he was expelled and temporarily transferred to the government of Swabia and Neuburg . At the end of 1924, however, he returned to the Palatinate government.

From September 1933 he was appointed government director of the government of Swabia and Neuburg (Chamber of the Interior) and at the same time director of the Augsburg Upper Insurance Office. In 1942 he retired at his own request and spent the last days of his life in Harxheim , Zell and Ludwigshafen am Rhein.

In botany Poeverlein also made a name for himself as a rust fungus expert. In addition, he also published on difficult genera such as Euphrasia , Rhinanthus and Potentilla . His works also include extensive bibliographies on the fauna and flora of the Palatinate. In addition, was co-editor of the work "Flora exsiccata rhenana".

Poeverlein was a member of Pollichia throughout his life and from 1922 also chairman of the Palatinate Forest Association.
