Hermann Rombach

Hermann Rombach (born January 20, 1890 in Böckingen ; † August 23, 1970 in Bietigheim ) was a German writer, painter and draftsman.

He came from a family of artists. The father August Rombach was a painter, brother Richard became a cameraman at Ufa in Berlin and his other brother Otto Rombach was a writer.

Herrmann Rombach had lived in Bietigheim since 1922, and spent many years in Lutzenberg (now Althütte- Lutzenberg) in the Welzheimer Forest for many years . There and in his home town of Bietigheim, he mainly painted and drew landscapes .

In 1923 Rombach took part in the first exhibition of the Stuttgart Secession , which had been newly founded, until 1929 works by him were shown in the exhibitions of the artist group .

In Bietigheim, a street was named after Hermann Rombach and the municipal gallery manages the estate of over 800 pictures and drawings. The city of Heilbronn owns some of his pictures such as “Skating Couple” from 1929 and 21 drawings that Rombach had created as a fusilier in Poland during the First World War. The Heilbronn municipal council named two rooms in the Böckingen community center and a street near the Böckinger water tower after Hermann and Otto Rombach .
