Hermann Schöne

Hermann Schöne (born October 2, 1836 in Dresden , † December 9, 1902 in Vienna ) was a German theater actor and writer.

Life

Schöen made his debut on May 7, 1853 in the summer theater at Reisewitz near Dresden. At the beginning of his career he played nature boys and lovers and even took part in operettas. He then worked in Chemnitz, Erfurt, Rostock, Bremen and Mainz before he was appointed to the Burgtheater by Heinrich Laube in 1863 , where he made his debut on April 27 as "Didier" in the Grille . He worked there for a full 36 years until he left the castle in 1899 due to a nervous condition.

Schöne was known for portraying comical and folk characters. In addition, he wrote humorous novels from theater life.

Franz von Dingelstedt characterized him as an actor and person with the words: "Beauty is the good genius of the house. The man only lives for the theater, he is an actor, but not a comedian."

In 1959 Hermann-Schöne-Platz in Vienna- Favoriten was named after him.
