Hermann Schüller

Hermann Schüller (born March 7, 1952 in Westerstede ) is a German basketball official , former player and entrepreneur.

career

Schüller began playing basketball at the age of twelve and played for TSG Westerstede as well as in the Lower Saxony state team and the national armed forces team. In 1973 he moved to Munich for an internship, during which he played in the 1973/74 season as a development player for the basketball team of FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, but was relegated with the team. He stayed in Munich, studied business administration there and played for FC Bayern for a total of four years. In 1977 he founded the company Glaszentrum Westerstede (later Schüller quality glass), which in 1997 became Semcoglas on his initiative with the Isoglas group from Nordhorn . Schüller became the company's managing partner.

After his return from Munich, Schüller returned to basketball at TSG Westerstede, played in the regional league and was involved as a trainer and department head. From 1994 he campaigned for a collaboration between the basketball departments of TSG Westerstede (then regional league) and the Oldenburg TB (then 2nd basketball league ) in order to bundle forces in the men's performance area . Together with OTB manager Gerold Lange  , he implemented the project in 1995, from then on the second division side took part in competitions as BG Oldenburg-Westerstede. The team's operations were later transferred to the newly founded Baskets Oldenburg GmbH & Co. KG, whose managing partner was Schüller alongside his work for Semcoglas. After the team name was changed back to Oldenburger TB in the meantime, the team that was promoted to the basketball league  in 2000 was called EWE Baskets Oldenburg from 2001 . When Gerold Lange left in 2011, Schüller became the sole managing partner of the Bundesliga club. During his tenure, Oldenburg became German champions in 2009 and cup winners in 2015. His company Semcoglas supports the Oldenburg Bundesliga team as a sponsor.

In September 2015, Schüller and Lange were awarded the City Seal of the City of Oldenburg .
