Hermann Schütz (painter)

Hermann Schütz (born December 10, 1875 in Schwerin ; † May 11, 1953 there ) was a German painter, illustrator and military draftsman.

Life

Hermann Schütz, like his twin brother Georg Schütz , grew into the founding days of the German Empire . In their hometown Schwerin, both of them first visited the local Fridericianum , then the Royal Art School in Berlin .

After completing his studies, Schütz initially worked in Berlin for some time, then also in Augsburg , Nuremberg and Stuttgart , before returning to his hometown, where he then worked until his death.

After various illustrations in books and magazines up until the Weimar Republic , Hermann Schütz - again with his brother Georg - became known in the 1930s for his drawings for Das deutsche Reichsheer . The two twin brothers also provided the artistic design of the barracks for anti-tank department 12 in Schwerin .
