Hermann Skarke

Hermann Skarke (born July 24, 1931 in Seitendorf, Lower Silesia ; † February 3, 2019 in Stuttgart ) was a German chess player . In 1985 he became German champion in correspondence chess .

Correspondence chess

Skarke began correspondence chess in the early 1970s. In 1983 he finished 4th in the finals of the 17th German championship. In 1985 he won the 18th German championship with 9 out of 12 points thanks to the better value calculation before Peter Kindl tied for points. He qualified again for the final of the 20th German championship.

In 1992, the World Correspondence Chess Federation awarded him ICCF title International Master of correspondence chess . Since the 1990s Skarke played with the Wolfbusch team in the 2nd correspondence chess Bundesliga.

Close chess

In 1964, Skarke won the Württemberg Cup. A year later he played in Kiel in the preliminary round of the German championship. He belonged to SV Wolfbusch from the founding of the club in 1956 until his death and played with them from 1978 to 1980 in the 1st Bundesliga and in the 1980s in the 2nd Bundesliga .

Private

Skarke was a commercial employee.
