Hermann Velmelage

Hermann Heinrich Velmelage (born May 3, 1875 in Nortrup , † July 28, 1948 in Duisburg ) was a German veterinarian.

Life

Hermann Velmelage began studying at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover at Easter 1892 and became a member of the Corps Normannia Hanover . In the summer semester of 1894 he moved to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Dresden and joined the Corps Alemannia Dresden. In 1896 he received his veterinary license in Dresden . Then he was the city veterinarian in Hamburg. In April 1899 he became an assistant at the Veterinary College in Berlin . After he had passed the district veterinarian examination there in the summer semester of 1902, he was appointed to the district veterinarian in Jülich in 1902 . In 1908 he moved to Eupen as a district veterinarian . During the First World War he was awarded the Iron Cross and the Wound Badge as a combatant . In 1918 he was promoted to the veterinary council in Eupen. After Eupen became Belgian, he was transferred to Rendsburg in 1919 . In 1922 he was promoted to Dr. med. vet. PhD. In 1934 he was transferred to Duisburg, where he was promoted to the government veterinary council in 1942.

Velmelage developed new instruments and technical aids for veterinary medicine. These include the tracheal fixing forceps "according to Dr. Bartels and Dr. Velmelage" and the uterus pump "according to Velmelage".

Remarks

  1. ↑ In 1897 Velmelage put down the Alemanni tape. The Corps Alemannia Dresden resigned from the RSC in 1914 and went to the German countryside, today Coburg Convent. In 1961 she was reconstituted in Clausthal and in 1973 it merged with Silesia Greifswald to form Alemannia-Silesia.
