Hermann Weyl (born November 7, 1866 in Berlin ; died November 20, 1925 there ) was a German doctor and politician ( SPD , USPD ). He was married to the social politician Klara Weyl . Gerda Weyl was their daughter.

(Chajim) Hermann Weyl came from a strictly religious Jewish family, one of his brothers was Dr. Max Weyl, rabbi in Berlin. Hermann Weyl left the Jewish community after 1900. After studying medicine in Berlin, he worked as a general practitioner specializing in hydrotherapy and, despite his strong political commitment, continued this activity until the end of his life. He was co-founder and chairman of the German Medical Association for physical-dietary therapy.

In 1886 Hermann Weyl joined the SPD. In 1917 he switched to the USPD, but returned to the SPD when it split in 1922.

From 1902 to 1925 Weyl was a member of the Berlin city council . During this time he was a member of the USPD from 1917 to 1922, before and after that for the SPD. In 1919 he was elected group chairman by the USPD faction in the city council. In the "List of Radicalism Residing in the State Police District of Berlin" by the Berlin Police President from 1918, Dr. Hermann Weyl listed with other leading social democrats. From 1919 to 1920 he was head of the city ​​council together with Hugo Heimann (SPD).

In the period from 1919 to 1925, Weyl was also represented in the Prussian state parliament - until 1922 for the USPD, then for the SPD. After his death, Helene Schmitz moved up to the state parliament.

After being reburied in 1951, Hermann Weyl's grave is in the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery on the ring wall of the socialist memorial .
